Moraira and
Mt Scary
The wind always builds in strength as you pass near to big headlands, so by staying in Calpe's marina at the foot of a very big rock we always seemed to think the weather a bit windy. When we did finally leave for Moraira with the wind gusting round the boat we were pleasantly surprised to find that the wind died as soon as we left the vicinity of the rock and we had a lovely sail all five miles to Moraira, where we planned to meet my sister and her family. We phoned en route and tentatively arranged to meet later that night, so it was a big surprise to see them arrive at the boat that afternoon! We were invited to dinner that night with Viv, Tim, their new baby Jack, Tim's parents and grandparents. Daphne (Tim's mum) cooked an amazing roast and David made sure everyone's glass was kept full. We had a really good time.
We saw Viv and Tim two further times and they took us inland in their hire car to Javea for a Tapas lunch and to what we now call Mount Scary. It was, and the combination of Tim's relaxed driving and the precipitous cliffs made for a ride straight out of Alton Towers!
It was good fun meeting everyone and after saying our goodbyes I began to feel rather homesick.
